#learningdisabilityweek - Time to reflect!💜 Over the last week, we celebrated Learning Disability Week, focusing on the theme "Do you see me?" This week was all about raising awareness and understanding the lives of individuals with learning disabilities.Every day, we shared inspirational stories from across our organisation based on the daily topics set by #Mencap:👀 Mon: "Do you see me?" 🧠 Tue: "Do you understand me?" 🤝 Wed: "Will you work with me?" 🦻 Thu: "Do you hear me?" 🌍 Fri: "Do you include me?" 💪 Sat: "Will you support me?" 📝 Sun: Weekly summary A huge thank you to everyone that took part sharing your amazing stories and achievements. Your contributions showcased the strengths and talents of the people we support, making Learning Disability Week 2024 one to remember! 🌟To wrap up such an incredible week, our very own Emma 'Battleship' Burnham, who is supported at SCS Hull, has written a beautiful poem that perfectly captures the theme of Learning Disability Week 2024. 🥰What a truly heartwarming read! Thank you, Emma for sharing your talent with us and making this week even more special! 💖✨😭#SwantonEthos #Learningdisability #LDweek #thatsawrap

#Learningdisabilityweek -Will you support me?Darwin Community Support held a tenants' meeting where the people we support took part in discussing their tenancies and exploring different related topics. They talked about house rules, what defines a good or bad tenant, and what makes a good or bad landlord. 👍👎All feedback and information noted on the day will be passed on to the housing providers as it’s important for them to understand what their tenants value. ✉️This meeting exemplifies our commitment to empowering tenants and ensuring their voices are heard. It was a great success! 😊Going forward, tenant meetings will be included throughout the year. 🏡✨Well done to everyone that took part! 👍#SwantonEthos #Learningdisability #LDweek #Mencap #Doyouseeme?

#Learningdisabilityweek-"Will you support me?"Little steps, huge achievements! Andrew, who is supported at Pant Yr Odyn, has been putting his amazing carpentry skills to work, building houses bats and birds! 🦇🐦Service Manager Marta said “He built the house first and painted it when he was ready. With great support from staff, he reached his goal and even said "hammer" for the first time! 🛠️We’re lucky to have Andrew, our amazing carpenter, at Pant Yr Odyn. He’s making these beautiful birdhouses and bat homes to sell at the Swanton Fun Day for charity. Andrew's work is top-notch, from the first hammer stroke to the final paintbrush detail.” 💜Another great example of "Will You Support Me?”, highlighting how dedicated support can help individuals achieve their goals and use their skills to make something special.🎨 Great work, Andrew! 😀#SwantonEthos #Learningdisability #LDWeek #Mencap

#Learningdisabilityweek-"Will you support me?"Adam and Amy, supported at Deanston House, completed the #Wellnesswalkglasgow with Raymond and Celia for #DiabetesUK. It's an 8-mile walk around Glasgow city centre, taking in sights and famous landmarks. They had another fantastic time this year! 🚶🚶♀️The #WellnessWalks happen across the UK in June. Amy and Adam both love walking, and Amy and Celia enjoy hill walking every second weekend. Amy plans their routes and schedules, and Celia picks her up. In the summer, they tackle a few Munros hills in Scotland.💪This activity perfectly aligns with Learning Disability Week's theme "Will You Support Me?" by demonstrating the power of support and shared activities in helping individuals achieve their goals. The consistent encouragement and #companionship from staff like Celia enable Amy and Adam to participate in such enriching experiences. 🏅💜Way to go, everyone! 🌟#SwantonEthos #Learningdisability #LDWeek #Mencap

#Learningdisabilityweek - Do you include me?Crown Apartments have their very own Oasis singer- MITCH! 🎤Mitch has been heading down to the local pub a few times a week to take part in some seriously good karaoke! Here he is belting out Wonderwall with a friend that he made right there in the pub that day. Peripatetic Care Manager Zoe shared “This is TRUE community spirit! The man singing with Mitch is not a staff member, he’s just a gentleman at the pub doing the karaoke!! Lovely to see them bonding in their local pub!”A huge shoutout to everyone at the pub for being so welcoming and creating such an #inclusive and fun environment! 🎉🎶Way to go Mitch!! You were amazing! 💜🥳#SwantonEthos #Learningdisability #LDWeek #Mencap #Inclusion
