Grade Point Average Computation

The A+ and A is calculated at 4 quality points, A- at 3.7 quality points, B+ at 3.3 quality points, B at 3 quality points, B- at 2.7 quality points, C+ at 2.3 quality points, C at 2 quality points, and C- at 1.7 quality points.

On a 4.0 scale, an A equals 4.0, a B equals 3.0, a C equals 2.0, a D equals 1.0, and an F equals 0.0. However, some high schools report student GPAs on a 5.0 scale instead. When schools use a 5.0 scale, a 4.5 GPA on a 5.0 scale is the equivalent of a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale.

Your GPA is affected

When you fail a course, the grade you receive is often an F, which carries no grade points. As a result, failing a course can significantly lower your GPA, especially if it is worth several credits. For example, if you have a 3.5 GPA and fail a 4-credit course, your GPA will drop to 3.08.

Since a "C" is worth 2.0 points, any C's the student receives will maintain their GPA.

Academic Progress

A description and listing of requirements for each course is provided at the beginning of the semester in the course syllabus. A student cannot graduate if a grade of D or F has been received in any course and/or has an outstanding "Incomplete" in any course in the Department.

It's possible to raise your GPA from a 3.2 to a 3.5 in one semester. Several factors can impact your GPA over a semester, including your course load and your institution's grading scale.

Any student interested in joining must have a 2.5 cumulative GPA and at least 12 credits to be eligible to participate in recruitment. Organizations may have higher GPA or credit requirements than the University standard; please ask the organization about their membership standards throughout the recruitment process.

Is a 2.8 GPA Good? Because a 2.8 is two-tenths of a point from a B average, a 2.8 GPA indicates several above-average grades and that your performance on homework and exams was up to par. With a 2.8 GPA, several colleges will consider your application, so you have a decent number of options to choose from.
