Is PortAventura busy in May? ›

May is a great time to visit PortAventura because you'll get to enjoy the Mediterranean heat without the busy crowds of summer.

Late May/early June or late September/early October should provide a great balance between good weather and fewer crowds.

The park is busiest at the weekend so maybe aim for a Monday to Thursday to avoid the biggest crowds.

Helpful? If you get to the Park at opening time (early start!) before the crowds and head for the main thrill-seeker rides, and are prepared to have a good long day in the sun, you should easily get around all attractions in just 2 days. Keeps the costs down, but it is hard and hot work.

We went in April while British schools still on easter holidays but Spanish ones went back while we were there. The park was empty - hardly any queues except for really big rides and these only about 20 mins.

PortAventura enjoys a Mediterranean climate with long hot summers and relatively short mild winters. If you love to follow the sun the best time to go to PortAventura is between June and August.

We completed Red Force then all the 10 rides available on the Express Pass Max within 5 hours. However if you're queueing in the standard queue; no chance of completing it within a day.
